![]() ![]() As you pause and quietly notice your thoughts, you must ask yourself powerful questions and answer honestly to get to the truth of the guilt you are feeling. ![]() There is a process I call the PEEL Process that can help you pull back the many layers of thoughts that create false guilt. ![]() False guilt is a weapon the Enemy uses to steal your joy, condemn the very essence of who you are, and even kill your dreams (see John 10:10). Feeling guilty without actually being guilty drives self-sabotaging behaviors, dysfunctional relationships, and anxiety. We give up peace.Īlthough we experience authentic guilt, the overwhelming amount of mental and emotional energy we spend feeling guilty is based on false guilt. What’s at stake when we don’t let go of excessive guilt? We give up freedom. ![]() Forgiveness is a central theme of Christianity, and the New Testament directly deals with guilt through the once-and-for-all guilt offering of a guiltless Savior. When you address real guilt with truth, you are free to embrace the changes you need to make in your own life and begin the work of forgiveness that frees you. Taking steps to free yourself from excessive guilt is really about freeing yourself to live the life God created you for. I believe guilt for things we haven’t done wrong is especially epidemic among today’s women, who are burdened with more expectations than any generation has ever had. It doesn’t just rob you of joy, it can drive decisions and actions that sabotage you before you even realize what’s happening. ![]()

![]() ![]() There will be some insane twist that will throw you off and make you question what you just read. ![]() I can promise you, when you think you have this book figured out, get ready. I was constantly guessing, right along with Benson. Robinson Wells did a phenomenal job of layering everyone with such mystery that it was hard to assign a label. The other characters were also great in their supporting roles. His voice came through loud and clear without sounding forced or fake. ![]() I imagine if I was in his situation, I might feel a lot of the same emotions. He has major flaws, which makes him very likable. We both found surprises- lots of them.īenson is a great narrator. I loved discovering what was going on at Maxfield Academy right along with Benson. And that's just what I did until I finished the book. But what I found made me stop and ask myself "what just happened?" So of course I had to keep reading. I told myself "just one more chapter" to see. After a particularly gruesome scene, I found myself reading to know what the outcome would be. I stayed up until 2 am to finish this book because I had to know what was coming. Saying it's suspenseful is a major understatement. ![]() If you like suspenseful books, I hope Variant find its way to your reading list. It literally kept me guessing to the last word. I usually figure out the plot of books way before the end, but that was not the case with Variant. ![]() ![]() ![]() In order to keep her father's spirit alive as she adjusts to her new home, Nour tells herself their favorite story-the tale of Rawiya, a twelfth-century girl who disguised herself as a boy in order to apprentice herself to a famous mapmaker.īut the Syria Nour's parents knew is changing, and it isn't long before the war reaches their quiet Homs neighborhood.
